i was just reading gumby's thread on 'a big old lie' he'd found in the bible.. as far as i got reading, folks were discussing jehovah killing everyone most of the time and i suppose threatening to do again in the future, according to the wtbts.

but why do we expect god to be nice to people?

in the garden of eden god tells adam to not eat from the tree of knowledge, as he would die the same day. satan says, no you are not going to die, but you'll be just like god. he eats, he does not die the same day. but god is afraid that he could also eat fruit of the tree of life and be like him (actually: them), so he quickly bans him from eden...

I think he did die the same day, and every man (human) after him was born dead (spiritually separated from god). That's why Jesus said "let the dead bury the dead" D Dog

You can call it what ever you want, I'll call it "God's mercy".

And why are we needing to be saved from this very angry God then?

i don't know about you but to claim your the organization of the almighty creator of everything,,has to be shear fantasy.

i find it hard to believe i fell for that one.

Why? You don't think God is going to change His mind do you.

and not force a person to beleive an ancient book that has been tampered with.

Force? Take it or leave it. I don't think its been that tampered with. (The mormons think it has been, that's why they have a prophet today)

Good point. I run across alot of Catholics that believe like that. But, I think there are poeple like that in every group, even when the group does not teach it. In my own church there are some that come because it works for mom and dad, and if it works for mom and dad, I will join, just in case it might be true. They don't really understand, so they think salvation comes from joining the "True Church". I think Joseph Smith thought that way and has decieved alot of mormons into joining the mormon church with that line. God told him!
